Mr. Michael Blanchard is the CEO of Blanchard Consulting Group.  He has extensive experience in the human resources field and has conducted or supported over 500 compensation planning, market research, and organizational development projects over the past fifteen years, with over twelve years specific to the banking industry. Before founding Blanchard Consulting Group, Mr. Blanchard was a Founder and Partner for Blanchard Chase, Managing Director with Amalfi Consulting, a Vice President for Clark Consulting, and worked for two national firms, both specializing in decision support consultation for management and board clients.  With graduate studies in advanced industrial and organizational psychology, Mr. Blanchard’s experience includes advising clients on compensation planning, performance appraisals, and management development.

 

Mr. Matt Brei – President

Matt Brei is the President of Blanchard Consulting Group.  He has been a compensation consultant since 2000 and has been exclusively focused on the banking industry since 2002.  Prior to founding Blanchard Consulting Group he worked at Blanchard Chase, Amalfi Consulting, and Clark Consulting.  Matt started his career at Arthur Andersen.  He serves in a lead role with his client engagements and focuses on identifying the unique compensation needs and concerns of each individual client.  Matt’s areas of expertise encompass multiple disciplines within executive, director, and staff compensation.  Matt frequently speaks at banking conferences on various compensation related topics and has written a number of published articles within banking specific publications. Matt received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Accounting and Business Management from Luther College in Decorah, IA.

Laura Roth is a Senior Consultant with Blanchard Consulting Group.  Ms. Roth has worked with over 100 financial institutions over her eleven year consulting career.  These projects include compensation reviews for executives, directors, and support staff; annual and long-term incentive plan design; executive benefit analysis; and performance evaluation system support.  Ms. Roth has extensive experience with statistical analysis, survey development, and database management.  Ms. Roth obtained her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Concordia University.

Ms. Kristen Kostner is a Senior Consultant with Blanchard Consulting Group. Ms. Kostner has fifteen years of experience in the compensation consulting field and has specialized in the banking and financial services industry.  Kristen’s areas of expertise include workforce, executive and incentive compensation, with emphasis on FLSA compliance and other legal and regulatory issues.  She also has extensive experience in mergers and acquisition integration, performance management and strategic planning.  Prior to joining Blanchard Consulting Group, Kristen worked for Lockton Companies and Palmer & Cay Consulting Group, both of which are national consulting firms.  Ms. Kostner obtained her MBA in Finance from the University of Missouri, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado.

 

Erica Spencer CCP, GRP - Senior Consultant

Erica Spencer is a Senior Consultant with Blanchard Consulting Group.  Ms. Spencer has over thirteen years of experience in compensation, including six specific to the banking industry with roles at Amalfi Consulting and Clark Consulting.  She has also held compensation positions within the human resources function in non-profit, pharmacy benefit management, and food service industries.  Ms. Spencer’s areas of expertise include: staff and executive compensation, board of director compensation, annual/long-term incentive plan design, performance management, compliance, and the design of creative solutions for compensation related issues.  Ms. Spencer has experience leading enterprise-wide reviews of compensation methodologies and practices, including implementing compensation philosophies, streamlining job levels, creating job families, and implementing market competitive salary structures and market pricing practices.

Ms. Spencer obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Finance with a minor in Economics from Iowa State University.  She also holds Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) designations from World at Work, and is a current member of the Twin Cities Compensation Network.
